Make way for a new teaching tool; a fast paced, humorous and hard-hitting video on conservation biology. This new video simplifies the complex issues of conservation biology in the Rockies. Our flamboyant host, Don Enright, leads us through the challenges facing conservation biologists in the Rocky Mountains. With a mix of science and interpretation the video is a perfect teaching tool for junior high schools, outdoor educators and community groups. "Knowing the Junior High school audience, the last thing we wanted to make was a boring science video. The key was to use a flamboyant host to introduce the scenes then let the scientists have their say. Don Enright, who has had a long history in the film, theatre and interpretation was chosen to host the show. We had Don dress up as everything from an astronaut to a sleazy card shark. The 27 minute production is composed of eleven fast-flowing and concise scenes which will keep large groups and teens awake and remind us all of the vast discoveries still to be made." The scenes: 1.Biodiversity - An introduction 2.Ark of Biodiversity - Why is it important? 3.Extinction Events - We may be losing 150 species a day 4.Conservation Biology - The #1 problem is habitat loss 5.Design-a-Park - Are our parks working? 6.Think Big - Protecting Ecosystems 7.Indicator Species - Each species plays a critical role 8.Playing with a Full Deck - Population and Genetics 9.Underpasses,Overpasses and Corridors 10.Yellowstone to Yukon - Connecting Ecosystems 11.Take Action - Every action makes a world of difference
