Sockeye Run is a beautifully made film that takes us inside the world of the men who work on the Queen's Reach, a salmon fishing boat on British Columbia's north coast. The rhythms of the sea, weather, and solitude; long days of grueling work interspersed with the often futile hunt for wild sockeye; the pleasure of the crew if they get a “big set” (a successful catch); and their concern about an industry they love but know is increasingly at risk are revealed with poetry and grace. |
