This island is described as New Brunswick's "best-kept secret". It has a double claim to fame: firstly as the only surviving Shrine to the father of Canada's national railway and secondly that Sir William Van Horne was voted Canada's businessman of the 20th century. The island is also a burial ground of aboriginal peoples dating back 2,500 years. It had been a popular hunting ground for aboriginal people as well - a herd of eighty deer continue to live on this island. |
