It was the boulevard of dreams - The Montreal Main represented hope and a new life to wave after wave of distinct immigrants. It would become 'the Zipper' of Montreal separating the English and French. It would also become 'the notorious Main.' A place where prostitutes and peelers, thespians, gamblers and gunmen and especially mafia could feel right at home. The Main is Canada's most famous ethnic melting pot. A living, breathing tapestry of fine architecture, and city slums, high-end fashion and low-end art.
