Geraldo De Sousa had a dream he almost fulfilled. He'd worked his way out of a shantytown in Brazil's teeming metropolis, Sao Paulo. His cherished job in the Ford car factory supported his wife, two children and a new apartment. Then suddenly - and through no fault of his own - Geraldo found there wasn't any work for him anymore. He was told it was because of the financial meltdown in faraway South East Asia. But was that just an excuse, or the harsh reality of the new globalized economy? In this program, with the help of investigative journalist Jon Alpert, Geraldo sets out to find out. |
