The series is designed to deter youth from delinquency and crime by presenting an emotionally compelling, insider's view of the devastating impact of incarceration. The programs are based on authentic, deeply personal letters written by individuals who are serving time - letters to their wives, husbands, children, friends, lovers, mothers and fathers. The letters are read by well known celebrities that young people can identify with. There are music and lyrics in the background that highlight the feeling present in the letter being read. The intent of the series is not so much to shock or frighten the audience, but rather to present a vivid and persuasive picture of confinement's tragic realities. The premise has been to reshape the often misguided - even romanticized attitudes many young people have toward crime and the harm it causes to their families, their victims and most of all, to themselves. Titles are: Substance Abuse, Doing Time, Violence & Gangs. Study Guide |
