This film travels four thousand miles along the pipeline that supplies a quarter of Europe's gas needs. It's a long and arduous journey from the UK across Europe to the Russian-controlled gas fields of Siberia and the farthest reaches of Kazakhstan.

It reveals a potentially grim future for consumers unable to insulate themselves from soaring energy prices, plunged into darkness and cold by cuts in supply and fearing for their jobs as rising energy prices force factories to close.

It's also a story of political intrigue and police raids - with allegations of market fixing, profiteering, blackmail and intimidation - involving multinational corporations and worried governments who fear for their future when the lights go out.
