The second programme is a scientific detective story to trace the evidence of Big Al. Employing the same state of the art graphic effects, Big Al roams modern-day museums and dig sites where we see passionate scientists explaining the research behind his tale. A thousand pieces of evidence have been pulled together by palaeontologists to recreate aJurassic life story. Studies in climate change, botany, fossil records and modern day animals all help to inform what life might have been like then. Combining forensic examination, medical scanners, modern day animal behaviour as well as clues from different ancient fossil sites, scientists have tried to piece together every aspect of Big Al's life – his naturalsurroundings, his life as a hatchling, and the way he thought, fought, ate and moved. Many dinosaurs, like Al, never reached maturity but this programme paints a fascinating picture of how scientists can interpret the lives of animals that lived so many millions of years ago. |
