The Cathars were a break away group of French Christians who rejected most of the Catholic Church's practices and beliefs. And they were persecuted to death for it. Their story is presented as a 20/20 look back at the history of the Cathars, which becomes a parody of Communism and the McCarthy hearings. Elsewhere on the Medieval dial there's Hollywood Squares, ads for Patron Saints, and a hilarious spoof of 'Andy of Mayberry' in which Barney and Andy convince poor Aunt Bea that she'll be going to hell for her Cathar beliefs.
