South Africa's AIDS epidemic is creating a generation of orphans. 11-year-old Mbali is one of them. Since her mother's death, Mbali has been head of the family, responsible for the care of her 7-year-old brother and her desperately ill father. She takes her responsibilities very seriously, but the sad truth is that children cannot raise themselves. As well as exploring the individual plight of South Africa's AIDS orphans, this moving film tackles the global injustices that make up the AIDS story. Why is that that, even though the courts granted South Africa the right to make affordable drugs in 2001, anti-retrovirals still cost several thousand dollars a year?
