This is the true story of the disaster that everyone predicted, but which no one seemed able to stop. Featuring powerful interviews with the families of the victims and revealing insights from those who had to deal with the tragic events, Horizon tells the story of what really happened to the Space Shuttle Columbia. The film is part forensic detective story and part a moving testimony to the price we sometimes have to pay for pushing back the boundaries of human achievement. Footage taken inside Columbia during its last flight, forensic analysis and an assessment of NASA's decision-making process, reveals that the failure of a component built to be indestructable resulted in the explosion, and suggest that there were a number of options available to NASA that could have brought the crew safely back to Earth.
