Scarface kills Female Hare. Fox, determined to put an end to the feuding, gives Weasel and Measly a message for Adder. They get it wrong and instead of killing Scarface, Adder bites Bounder, one of his sons. But just as things can't seem any blacker for the two tribes, Charmer meets Ranger, and it is love at first sight. Meanwhile, in the world outside White Deer Park, Bold rescues Shadow, a sow badger, from a gamekeeper's trap. But the trap swings back and injures his eye, preventing him from noticing a hunter and his gun. Bold is shot in the hind leg and left to die.
