In spite of the unspeakable atrocities inflicted upon them, the Mi'kmaq are still here. Their fighting spirit has taken them to the Supreme Court of Canada to enforce the terms of their treaties. They must now fight to force the Canadian government to honour the rulings of its own court system. The terms of their treaties have always been sacred to the Mi'kmaq. However, throughout their history, they have been used as intruments of greed by the dominant culture of the day. Greed in the form of the theft of vast tracts of land and in the form of the destruction of the Mi'kmaq environment. In French: Promesses sacrées, promesses brisées
