In his fourteen year rule, President Yoweri Museveni of Uganda has changed his country and turned it into a prosperous and peaceful place striving to make it into the 21st century. However, in northern Uganda the Acholi people are embroiled in one of the nastiest wars in modern history that has raged on unabated for every day of Museveni's 14 years in power. General Joseph Kony head of the Lord's Resistance Army forms his army almost entirely from young boys kidnapped from their Acholi families. He forces these boys to kill their own families, their friends, their schoolmates and their fellow villagers. With the help of Paska Otto, a young Ugandan Canadian woman who was once a child soldier herself, “Soldier Boys” shows what happens to 3 of these boys after they have escaped from the LRA. |
