The town of Annapolis Royal is home to Fort Anne, Canada's oldest national historic site. Nearby Port Royal, the first historic reconstruction ever attempted by Parks Canada, is the touchstone of the Acadian community. But in 1755, the Acadians were expelled from their homeland by the British in one of the most tragic deportations every witnessed in this country. Today, ninth-generation Acadians in the Annapolis Valley tell the story of their ancestors' deportations.
